Scrapbooking is a paper craft for preserving personal and family history in the form of photographs, printed media, and memorabilia contained in decorated albums of page layouts, or scrapbooks.  A scrapbooker aims to capture the feeling and the mood associated with their memories at that very moments.

There are many ways of capturing those moments from keeping tickets, maps and other memorabelia to adhere alongside your pictures but the most personal and is to journal.  Journaling is a way of documenting all those important details and goings on, it is also great for keeping dates as photographs cannot tell a story as well as photographs with words. 10 years down the road, you might not remember what actually happen and where you took the photos thus journalling is very important and it allows the next generation to know about their very own family story. 

Photographs are embellished with all sorts of additional items to help set the mood of a spread. Backgrounds, rubber stampings, cut-outs, die cuts, drawings, newspaper clippings, stickers, cards and other flat items are used to embellish photographs to set the tone. When you look at a page in a photo album, you see a few photographs, but when you enjoy the pages of a well-executed scrapbook, you are transported to a different time.
